Atkinsons the Jewellers to shut Sutton Coldfield store with £2 million clearance sale

Whitehouse supports Atkinsons retirement sale. Article from Birmingham Mail.

A business which has been a fixture in a Birmingham suburb for more than 30 years is set to close for good and is having a huge £2 million stock clearance.

Atkinsons The Jewellers which is based at Sutton Coldfield’s Gracechurch Centre is to shut after three years at the centre and 28 more years in nearby Birmingham Road.

But before it closes, and coinciding with the big Black Friday weekend, Atkinsons is selling all its stock at 50 per cent off which starts this Saturday (November 27).

In a sign outside the store it says ‘Due to retirement Atkinsons the Jewellers Closing Down Sale’ and the shop window has hundreds of items all marked down with lots of eager shoppers peering in.

Atkinsons is owned by husband-and-wife team Paul and Keeley Atkinson. Paul started the ‘small shop with a small amount of jewellery’ but with lots of energy’ with his wife, mum and cousin.

“It’s the end of an era. But we have decided my wife and I to focus on our other business interests rather than retail and jewellery.

“I am incredibly proud of what we have achieved; to come from nothing to where we are today has taken an incredible amount of dedication, commitment, and hard work. And we are delighted that we were able to realise our dream. It’s been a wonderful 31 years, which we have thoroughly enjoyed.”
