A Company Update

Throughout 2018 Whitehouse, formerly Whitehouse Consulting, have assisted a variety of independent retail jewellers in successfully exiting their business. The team at Whitehouse have aided jewellers, all across the United Kingdom, from Charles Alexander Jewellers in the Isle of Man to Pressleys in Worthing, from Alexander Jewellers in Oldham to Hester Clarke in Aylesbury.

Our approach, as outlined on our dedicated ‘Closing Down Sales’ page, is broken down into three distinctive sections: Sales & Product, Marketing & Advertising and Preparation / Set-Up. This year has seen another exceptional year for a variety of jewellers who have been looking to exit their business, for a host of reasons ranging from retirement to end of lease. Some, were looking to continue their business, even if just one element, but take a completely new direction, whereas some were leaving the retail industry for good – each client completely different in their needs and requirements.

It has become evident throughout the year that there is no one type of retailer looking for this service. Lowe & Sons, Chester, was one of the United Kingdom’s oldest jewellery retails and had been trading for 248 years. Located on Chester Rows the store, which was infamous for both its antique jewellery and silverware, finally closed the doors of its Victorian showroom on the 16th June 2018 after an exceptional closing down sale, clearing through an array of jewellery and silver styles. In contrast, Alexander Jewellers in Oldham, which was renowned for its high quality diamond jewellery but also a vast array of fashion brands including: PANDORA, Thomas Sabo, Calvin Klein, Nomination, Swarovski, Hugo Boss, Links of London and many more. The store, which was located opposite Tesco Extra, ran a 50% jewellery sale, as well as other offers until the 14th October.
